Chocoholics will not want to miss Latrobeâs annual Chocolate Winterfest. Just a 10-minute drive from Devonport, this yearâs festival takes place on Sunday 12th August with an official opening on Saturday the 11th.
Make a lantern and join the walking lantern parade departing from Kingâs Park in Gilbert Street and meet up with fellow strollers at the Mersey River Caravan Park. The official opening is free admission and there is a surprise grand finale, so donât miss out.

Sunday brings the main event, with many activities to choose from. Take part and show off your baking skills in the Chocolate Cake competition, sit down for a special Chocolate High Tea in the House of Anvers or even get a chocolate Henna tattoo! One of this yearâs highlights looks to be the Chocolate Poetry Slam, where contestants of all ages will be professionally judged on their poems with the top 3 going on to compete in the State Final.
Join Belgium Chocolatier, Igor van Gerwen, in a Chocolate Appreciation Master Class and discover the art of tasting delectable delights as well as making a chocolate sculpture to take home.

For the kids, they can take part in the Chocolate Belly Bumper competition, a game where you are encased in an inflatable zorb ball and must try to stay standing on the lucky spot to win a prize. What about Chocolate Mousse Mayhem where teams of two will feed each other delicious chocolate mousse whilst blindfolded, this one might get a bit messy! Maybe they would prefer the Not the Dark Chocolate House in which they will learn about fire safety as well as getting a chance to win even more chocolate.
With so many activities and events to choose from, donât miss out on this yearâs Chocolate Winterfest.
