Events along the coastline to see on your Cruisin Motorhome holiday 2017

Planning a motorhome holiday can be quite daunting. There are so many sights and activities to do in such a limited amount of time, and the last thing you want to do is finish your holiday and feel that you have missed out on experiences. So, we have listed a number of events around the coastline in 2017 to help you plan your motorhome trip.

Tasmania

Sheffield – Steamfest: 11-13 March

Steam Fest is a 3-day event which brings you one of the biggest collections of working steam machinery in Australia, steam train rides and a bit of history with old steam-powered threshers and rock crushers and vintage cars.

Huonville – Taste of Huon: 12-13-March

Celebrating its 25^th year this year of 2017 the Taste of Huon will delight you with Fine wine, food art and crafts and entertainment set amongst the beautiful country region where they produce Apples, vineyards, berries, truffles, mushrooms and salmon

Statewide – Ten Days on the island: 16-26 March

Ten days on the island is a festival of entertainment all over Tasmania at different locations. Includes Dance, music, performances, theater and visual arts.

Across the state – Targa Tasmania: 24-29 April

Traveling over 2000kms with over 40 competitive stages on closed roads for the true motoring enthusiasts to witness in the beautiful setting of Tasmania and all its rolling hills and green paddocks. Make sure you position yourself in one of the stages so you can see all the action.

Carrick – Agfest: 04-06 May

Agfest gives businesses in Tasmania the opportunity to showcase their products in one convenient location that attracts thousands of people each year. Whether you are interested in machinery, new cars, crafts or the freshest Tasmanian food there is something for everyone.

Hobart – Dark Mofo: 08-21 June

Dark mofo is an annual pilgrimage south celebrating dark through large-scale public art, food, film, music, light and noise. There are several exhibitions around Hobart at museums and the theater and concert halls.

Hobart – Festival of Voices: 30 june-16 July

The festival of voices is a unique festival that is held in different places all over Tasmania with some of the most respected singers across Australia and overseas that come to the little island and perform as well as hold vocal workshops for the festival.

Huonville- Mid-Winter Festival: 14-16 July

An interesting festival to celebrate the region’s apple picking history, join in on the fun of the age old tradition of wassailing. Basically wassailing is scaring nasties out of the orchards cider trees to ensure a full autumn crop.

If singing to the trees is not your idea of fun then you are in for a treat with an extravagant feast, craft ciders, and music by the fireside.

Devonport – Devonport Jazz Festival: 27-30 July

Tasmania’s only winter Jazz Festival is held in Devonport over 4 days. It features some of Australia’s biggest jazz artists as well as some of the leading Tasmanian jazz musicians. It celebrates jazz genres from the old to the new, also incorporating food, visual art, dance and film to the mix to break the mould of the traditional jazz festival.

Latrobe – Chocolate Winter Festival: 13 August

Chocolate Winterfest is Latrobe’s delicious festival that celebrates all things chocolate.

There are activities that you can take part in and get involved such as a lantern parade, Chocolate wearable art or even a decorated chocolate cake competition.

Victoria

Melbourne – White night: 18 February

Beginning at 7 pm and running all night until 7 am in the morning the next day, Melbourne will transform into a lighting experience you will never forget. With lighting, exhibitions, street performances, film, music, dance and interactive events that will take place in Melbourne’s streets and laneways, parklands and public spaces.

Lonsdale St – Greek Festival: 25-26 February

Celebrating its 30^th Year you will witness Melbourne’s biggest Greek street party that will bring a whole lot of Greek culture, food and entertainment. It’s a free event and has plenty to offer with activities for kids also like dance lessons, face painting, and carnival rides.

Melbourne – Moomba Festival: 10-13 March

A festival held every labor day long weekend in Melbourne each year. Held on the Sun –soaked banks of the Yarra you can share in the celebration of the much loved Melbourne city and all it has to offer. With parades, people flying off a 4-meter platform with their own specially built wings for charity and finish off with some fireworks.

Melbourne – Food and Wine festival: 31 March – 9 April

You can visit the inaugural House of food and wine or you can sit along the banks of the Yarra to enjoy the Food and wine extravaganza in the heart of Melbourne. You also can go outside of Melbourne and head into the Victorian countryside with 24 regional world’s longest lunches that are being held to showcase Victoria’s best regional products they have to offer.

Melbourne – Royal Melbourne show: 23 September – 3 October

Held at the Melbourne showgrounds with over 450,000 visitors expected, the 2017 royal Melbourne show is Celebrating agriculture over 11 days, with a huge range of fun activities, exhibits, competition, food, and attractions. You can have a fun-filled memorable day with family and friends.

Melbourne – Melbourne Cup Carnival: 7 November

One of the best racing carnivals in the world, Melbourne’s Flemington racecourse will delight you with all the atmosphere and racing set amongst the fashion some great food and wine along with other marquees that will hold demonstrations to showcase their products.

New South Wales

Blue Mountains – Culture Scape: 17-18 February

The curated markets will keep you entertained by live music, food, and great quality products in Parke st Katoomba. They will also feature  Culturescape – artists and designers from the blue mountains, Sydney, and west of the divide with their amazing artwork that will light up the night.

Moore Park – Taste of Sydney: 10-13 March

The taste of Sydney will present you with 100 artisan producers, pop up bars, wine & Cheese tastings, live music as well as interactive cooking classes and live demonstrations. You can unwind and take in the atmosphere in the stunning grounds of Centennial parklands.

Sydney – Royal Easter Show: 6-19 April

Sydney royal Easter show is a celebration of Australian culture full of agriculture excellence, from our rural traditions to the more modern day lifestyles. Every year at Easter time this huge celebration over 14 days is held at the Sydney Showgrounds will delight you with agriculture competitions, animal experiences, live entertainment, carnival fun and of course shopping.

Thredbo – Golden Easter Hunt:16 April

If you feel like something different to do this Easter head to Thredbo where you can spend a great day enjoying a scamper across the Mountain in search of the Easter eggs that have been hidden for the lucky hunters to find. Cash prizes are up for grabs with 6 eggs hidden – 5 of them will have $1000 each on them and there is one lucky one that will be worth $5000. Lots of chocolate to be eaten with a huge kids Easter hunt with over 5000 eggs to be found on the village green.

Tamworth – Taste Tamworth festival:28 April – 7 May

The Taste of Tamworth is a premier food event on the Tamworth calendar each year highlighting its growers, makers, chefs and diners. The 10-day event will include the warehouse pop-up bar where you can enjoy a night of canapés, beer and wine with some cool tunes. taste in the park – a day of activities and stall holders in which you can sample regional food, check out celebrity chefs and relax in the beer garden. the long lunch- head along and join them for a seat at a very long table under the trees in Anzac park for a five-course lunch cooked by the region’s top chefs. farm gate trail – take a self-drive tour of the farms in the region, meet the farmers and try their amazing produce.

Sydney – Vivid Sydney, light and music festival:26-17 June

A winter festival of light, music, and ideas – An outdoor gallery is featured of amazing lighting sculptures, music and the illumination of the Sydney Opera house sails. With the dazzling light art across the city and more stimulating ideas from global thinkers, it’s well worth heading out to see the beautiful light show.

Lismore – Lismore Lantern Parade: 24 June

Lightnup inc is a not for profit organisation and membership is drawn from local businesses, school and universities. They run year round workshop programs throughout regional, rural and metropolitan Australia, including lantern making, shadow theatre, puppets, masks, and costumes. Each year they get to put on the Lantern parade in Lismore and showcase all the amazing work they have done in their workshops and get all of the community involved. Watch the streets come alive with these amazing lanterns.

Bathurst – Bathurst Winter Festival: 16 July

The Bathurst winter festival is a two-week celebration of embracing the much colder season. With family friendly creativity and activities like the  Illuminated buildings, an outdoor ice rink, Ferris wheel and twilight markets with local food, wine, and beer. Go along embrace the winter outdoors in the heritage CBD of Bathurst.

Gunning – Gunning Fireworks Festival: 9 September

The only place you can experience fireworks like you see at Sydney’s new year’s eve display. There will be amusement rides, market stalls, food stalls, face painting, live music and lots more to entertainment to keep the whole family happy.

Wagga Wagga – Taste Riverina Food Festival: September/October

If you love fresh locally grown produce the Taste Riverina is the place for you to be in September. Celebrate, experience and become an advocate for the local produce. A diverse range of products will be available for you to experience from rice to citrus, lamb, beef, wheat, canola oil, olive oil, grapes, potatoes, and pistachios. There will be agriculture tours, cooking classes, food treks, dinners, café specials, wine and beer tastings, local festivals and live music all throughout the month of September and October. Eden – Eden Whale Festival: October

Throughout the day there is live shows and hands-on family fun amongst the little town of Eden. You can Whale watch from shore or sea enjoy the local produce and the local competitions like oyster sucking and the capstan pull.  They have a screening of killers in Eden and a supper at the uniting church followed by some fireworks to brighten the night.

Port Macquarie – Oysters in Vines: November

Held amongst the beautiful scenery of the Cassegrain Wines vineyard, your taste buds will be bursting with a range of oysters and fine wine. Local suppliers will offer a range of goodies to tempt all your taste buds as well as having entertainment and some family friendly activities to join in on. Bring a chair or a picnic rug and enjoy a day out with friends and family.

Queensland

Brisbane – Eat Street Markets: 6 Dec – 27 May

Open Every Friday and Saturday night between 4pm –10pm, Held at a disused shipping container wharf the markets are full of all sorts of goodies. All lined up in their own little stores you can choose from Dishes from all over the world to desserts that are to die for. Your taste buds will be bursting with pleasure and leaving you wanting more and more. If only you could have a bit of everything.

Brisbane – Twilight Markets: 3 March

The only Brisbane market that sells 100% locally owned handmade products, With a variety of local food vendors, live music and free craft workshops to make a great event for the whole family. Located in the heart of the big bustling city and within walking distance of the queen St mall and central train station. The Brisbane Twilight markets is a great way to buy locally from the community and purchase directly from the maker.

South Bank – City Sounds: 4 March and Each Saturday After

A free live music program each Saturday from 3pm at Southbank presenting local bands and artists which originated in the queen street mall now has to expand to other locations in Brisbane and has been a big hit. Sitting on the lush green lawns with your mates and having a drink or two with friends on a sunny Saturday afternoon is a great treat for your weekend and to see one of the favourite spots of Brisbane locals.

Brisbane – World Science Festival: 22-26 March

Brisbane holds an exclusive license to host the World Science Festival in the Asia Pacific which reinforces Australia’s position as a knowledge economy and raises challenging discussion about science, technology, engineering, and maths. The festival brings together great minds in science and arts to produce live and digital content that presents the wonders of science and the drama of scientific discovery to an audience.

Ipswich – CMC Rocks Qld: 24-26- March

Held at Willowbank in Ipswich is the 10 year anniversary of CMC Rocks Qld, Featuring the Dixie Chicks, Adam Harvey, Brothers 3, Lee Kernaghan, The Mcclymonts and so much more. See if you can still grab a ticket before they sell out.

Kenilworth – Kenilworth Cheese, Wine & Food Fest: 15 April

Held on Easter Saturday at Kenilworth Park and cheese factory. Take a scenic drive to Kenilworth to experience the festival that will bring you amazing food tasting, cooking demonstrations, stalls and taste the award winning gourmet cheese, yogurt, and ice cream. A great day out for the long Easter weekend amongst some beautiful scenery in the country.

Brisbane – Regional Flavours: 15 July

South Banks signature food and wine festival held in the picturesque parklands on the Southside of Brisbane city. Featuring loads of free entertainment with celebrity chefs and industry experts as well as fresh produce from over 80 of Queensland’s best providers.

Hervey Bay- Hervey Bay Ocean Festival: 13-24 August

Between these dates in August you will get to witness the humpback whales stopping at Hervey bay for 10 days on their way to Antarctica to stop have a rest and play. Hervey Bay has taken this opportunity each year to celebrate with the Hervey Bay Ocean Festival. The Festival starts on the 13^th and includes a calendar of events over the 10 day period with live concerts, seafood and loads more.

Roma – Food and Fire Festival: 9 September

The food and fire festival held at Roma celebrates the multicultural diversity of the Maranoa region. The event will include markets, food stalls, live entertainment, fireworks and animal rides. Take a trip a little way into the outback of Brisbane to experience a festival in a cute little country town.

Winton – Outback Festival: 19 – 23 September

Head to Winton in Outback northern Qld to experience a festival like no other. Live bands & performers at night, the Australian dunny derby by day, a bush poets breakfast, Cart races, wobble board painting competitions, Whip cracking workshops, A sunset extravaganza, and the grand parade to finish it off down the main street of Winton.

Eumundi – Eumundi Markets: All year Round Saturdays and Wednesdays

The Eumundi Markets held on the sunshine coast and open rain hail or shine every Wednesday and Saturday. You will find artwork, handmade toys, home wares and skincare as well as fashion and jewellery. Fresh home-grown food and prepared meals to eat, freshly baked bread great coffee and a great day out.
